Summary
- India's smartphone exports reached $30 billion in 2025.
- Mobile production hit ₹5.5 trillion, with exports around $22 billion in 2024-25.
- Apple is a key player, boosting India's manufacturing reputation.
India has solidified its position as a global leader in smartphone exports, achieving overseas shipments worth $30 billion in 2025. This significant milestone was announced by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The nation is actively becoming the "smartphone manufacturing factory for the world," as stated by the minister.
In the 2024-25 fiscal year, India produced mobile phones valued at ₹5.5 trillion, with exports from this sector reaching around ₹2 trillion (approximately $22 billion). Electronics exports overall surpassed ₹4 trillion ($44 billion) in 2025, with further growth anticipated as four semiconductor plants commence operations this year.
Market analysis indicates that Apple has become a key driver of India's manufacturing success. The company's increased production in India, especially following US tariffs on China, has led to record export figures. It is estimated that one in every four smartphones produced in India was exported in 2025, contributing to the nation's status as a major global supplier.
