In the three months ending in September, IMAX announced revenue of $175 million, a remarkable 64% increase that exceeded Wall Street's projections. The company's box office performance also surged by 90% year-over-year, reaching $712 million.
The unprecedented success of "The Odyssey" was a major catalyst, contributing $550 million to the global IMAX box office and becoming the highest-grossing IMAX film to date. This single title accounted for approximately 30% of its total box office receipts.
IMAX also reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.21 cents, a 370% increase from the previous year. The company anticipates exceeding its full-year 2026 global box office guidance of $1.4 billion.
Further indicating growth, IMAX has secured agreements for over 100 new systems globally in 2026, with 65% designated for new locations. CEO Rich Gelfond highlighted this performance as an "awakening to the power and potential of our platform" and noted that record margins underscore the value of unique experiences in an AI-driven world.
