3 Jun
Summary
- IFCI's share price reached an 81.90 high, a 21-month peak.
- The NSE is expected to file its draft prospectus by June 15.
- IFCI holds an indirect stake in NSE via its subsidiary SHCIL.

IFCI's share price reached a significant 21-month high of ₹81.90 on Wednesday, marking a 14% increase amid heavy trading volumes. This surge comes as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) prepares to file its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) by mid-June, aiming for a June 15 target. The successful filing will pave the way for the NSE's long-awaited initial public offering later this calendar year.
IFCI's indirect ownership in the NSE, through its 52.86% stake in Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCIL), which in turn holds a 4.4% stake in the NSE, is a key driver for the stock's performance. SHCIL is a major Depository Participant and provides essential post-trading and custodial services.
In recent trading, IFCI shares have rallied approximately 35% over the past seven trading days and 71% since April 2026. The financial institution's lending operations were halted in FY22 due to capital constraints, but its credit profile remains strong due to government support. The proposed NSE issue will be an offer for sale, with existing investors expected to dilute a small percentage of their holdings.
