The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has committed an equity investment of ₹225 crore, equivalent to approximately $23 million, to NDR Smart Spaces. This funding is earmarked for developing a substantial portfolio of around 20 million square feet of Grade A warehousing and logistics infrastructure.
The initiative by NDR Smart Spaces, a new platform from the NDR group, aims to develop facilities in 14 cities, including 8 million square feet currently under construction. A strategic emphasis will be placed on tier-2 and tier-3 cities, areas historically lacking modern logistics support.
This partnership is anticipated to generate approximately 24,000 direct employment opportunities in various roles such as logistics, operations, and maintenance. Furthermore, the project includes the addition of 1.5 million square feet of cold storage capacity, directly addressing post-harvest losses and enhancing food supply chains.
The IFC's involvement aligns with India's national goals for private sector-led job creation, highlighting the critical role of modern logistics infrastructure. The investment is expected to attract manufacturers, foster formal employment, and improve market access for farmers.
