HyPrSpace, a French launch startup, recently closed a 21 million euro Series A funding round, attracting investment from Red River West and the DeepTech 2030 fund. The company is developing the Orbital Baguette 1 (OB-1) orbital vehicle and a suborbital demonstrator, Baguette One.
The Baguette One suborbital vehicle is slated for launch in the first half of 2026 from a French military base. This vehicle will utilize a hybrid rocket engine, which HyPrSpace plans to adapt for the OB-1 orbital rocket. This unique engine uses a plastic material for fuel, offering significant cost and supply chain advantages.
Beyond civilian spaceflight, HyPrSpace is actively pursuing defense applications for its hybrid motors, noting significant interest from defense agencies. The company also aims to differentiate its OB-1 service from existing options by focusing on high-end customer support for small satellite launches.
