- Plans include rooftop, mezzanine, and ground-floor apartment conversions.
The East Hull Pools, a Victorian-era building opened in 1898, is set to be redeveloped into apartments. The facility has been vacant since 2018 following the opening of a new local leisure centre. Hull City Council has now greenlit plans for the conversion of the Holderness Road site into 24 residential units.
These new apartments will comprise three rooftop flats and twelve mezzanine units located in the former main swimming pool area. An additional eight apartments will be created in the space that housed the smaller pool. Furthermore, the existing first-floor function rooms will be repurposed into a two-bedroom flat and a management office.
As part of the planning approval, the developers, JR Holmes Ltd, have agreed to contribute £21,600 towards affordable housing initiatives in Hull. An additional £17,850 will be allocated towards enhancing local open spaces, ensuring community benefits alongside the new housing development.
