US Safety Agency Ends Ridgeline Camera Probe
22 Sep
Summary
- US safety regulator closed an investigation into Honda Ridgeline rear-view cameras.
- The probe followed reports of wire-harness failures after a recall.
- Testing found no support for concerns about repaired wire harnesses failing.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has concluded its investigation into rear-view camera failures affecting 129,092 Honda Ridgeline pickup trucks. This probe, which began with a recall in 2022, was upgraded to an engineering analysis in February 2025 due to subsequent reports of wire-harness failures in vehicles that had undergone the initial repair.
After conducting comprehensive testing, owner surveys, and vehicle inspections, NHTSA determined that the concerns about repaired wire harnesses failing were not supported. The agency found no evidence of rear-view camera failures caused by wire-harness damage, concluding that the components are not expected to fail within a reasonable vehicle lifespan. Consequently, the investigation has been closed without any further action.
