15 Feb
Summary
- Hero's scooter sales grew 45.5% year-on-year in FY26.
- The Vida VX2's Battery-as-a-Service scheme dropped its price.
- Hero plans to expand the Vida electric scooter line in 2026.

As the industry moves into 2026, Hero MotoCorp is redefining its position in the scooter segment, a market where it previously lagged. The company's scooter sales saw a remarkable 45.5% year-on-year increase from April to December FY26, reaching 406,500 units. This growth significantly outpaced the industry's 12.9% expansion.
The electric scooter brand Vida has been a primary catalyst for this success. Vida's sales rocketed by 172.3% to 103,213 units in the same period. Analysts credit the Vida VX2, launched in July 2025, for finding a strong market fit, especially with its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme. This innovative offering detached battery costs, bringing the VX2's upfront price below Rs 50,000.
