15 Jan
Summary
- HDFC Infinia card rewards significantly reduced from January 16, 2026.
- SmartBuy voucher rewards drop from 5X to 3X, effective reward rate falls.
- Cardholders must reassess value as premium benefits are diminished.

HDFC Bank is implementing a substantial reduction in rewards for its esteemed Infinia credit card, effective January 16, 2026. The changes will notably impact the SmartBuy platform, a key benefit for cardholders, altering the way rewards are earned on brand voucher purchases.
Under the revised structure, Infinia cardholders will now earn 3X Reward Points on SmartBuy vouchers, a decrease from the previous 5X. This adjustment lowers the effective reward rate from approximately 16.5% to around 10%. Notably, Amazon Pay vouchers will also see a decline in returns to 5.77%, signaling a considerable shift in the card's overall value proposition.
These revisions bring the Infinia card's benefits more in line with other premium HDFC cards, such as Biz Black and Diners Club Black. Cardholders should also be aware that convenience fees may apply to certain brands, potentially further reducing net rewards. The reduced benefits necessitate a reassessment of the card's value, especially given its premium annual fee.
