Magic: The Gathering Fuels Hasbro's Record Quarter
21 Jul
Summary
- Magic: The Gathering revenue surpassed $500 million in one quarter.
- Hasbro raised its full-year financial outlook significantly.
- A cybersecurity breach impacted quarterly revenue by $25 million.

Hasbro reported a robust financial performance, highlighted by Magic: The Gathering achieving over $500 million in quarterly revenue for the first time. This milestone propelled a 16% increase in the company's overall sales. Consequently, Hasbro has boosted its full-year financial projections, now anticipating revenue growth between 5% to 7% in constant currency.
The company's Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment demonstrated exceptional growth, with Magic: The Gathering revenue alone reaching $545.3 million, bolstered by the popular Marvel Super Heroes set. Monopoly Go! also contributed positively to this segment. Hasbro's Consumer Products division saw a 5% revenue increase, supported by entertainment releases.
Financially, Hasbro achieved a net profit of $160.9 million, a significant turnaround from the prior year's net loss. However, the quarter was not without challenges. A cybersecurity breach identified in late March resulted in an estimated $25 million reduction in revenue and an $11 million increase in expenses. The company is managing the aftermath and anticipates further costs.
Hasbro also returned $133 million to shareholders via dividends and share repurchases. Looking ahead, the company remains optimistic about continued growth, with a clear line of sight to further expansion through 2027.
