The restaurant acknowledged the incident, explaining that a delivery driver allegedly left the product unattended. Hamburger Project confirmed that the meat was immediately discarded due to compromised food safety. They have since updated their delivery protocols to prevent recurrence. Messages allegedly from the delivery driver, indicating a hasty completion of the order, were shared by the restaurant. The controversy has also drawn attention to former head chef Geoffrey Lee, who was removed last year after a public dispute with an influencer in 2025. Lee expressed his disapproval of the incident, stating it was a failure in delivery processes, though he clarified his non-involvement in daily operations following his departure. The restaurant had previously faced backlash after Lee's confrontational response to a TikTok review by influencer Kat Ensign.
