Gujarat Boosts LPG Supply Amidst Supply Chain Focus
16 Mar
Summary
- Gujarat increased LPG supplies by 20% to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability.
- Priority is given to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in areas with existing networks.
- Essential sectors like hospitals and educational institutions receive 100% of their LPG demand.

The Gujarat government has enhanced its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) distribution by 20% over normal weekly supplies to ensure an uninterrupted flow of fuel. Concurrently, the state is prioritizing Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections in areas where the network is operational.
This initiative aims to bolster fuel security across various sectors. The government has assured adequate LPG stock and an uninterrupted supply chain, with district teams, police, and oil companies working in coordination. No restrictions have been placed on domestic or commercial LPG use.
Under the directive of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, hotels and restaurants are encouraged to adopt PNG where available. Essential services, including hospitals and educational institutions, have been guaranteed 100% of their LPG demand. Limited commercial LPG supply is also being facilitated for other sectors in areas lacking PNG infrastructure.
As a supplementary measure, Gujarat has received 1,452 kiloliters of kerosene from the central government, intended for rural areas. This allocation serves as an additional support, as Gujarat was declared kerosene-free in 2022. Stringent monitoring and enforcement measures are in place, with dedicated personnel deployed at gas agencies to ensure adherence to guidelines.
