Derelict Warehouse to Become 64 New Flats
18 Feb
Summary
- A six-storey building will replace a derelict warehouse.
- The development will feature 64 one and two-bedroom apartments.
- Previous plans for apartments on the site were approved in 2006.

In Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, a derelict warehouse known as Gleadells Wharf on Bridge Street is slated for demolition to facilitate the construction of new residential units. Detailed plans have been submitted to West Lindsey District Council for the site's clearance. This proposal includes building a six-storey structure that will offer 64 one and two-bedroom apartments.
The new development is situated on a brownfield site along the River Trent, close to the town centre. It is part of a broader regeneration effort for the area. All planned apartments will feature private outdoor space, with communal terraces available on the fifth floor. This initiative follows similar waterfront conversions of former warehouses into apartments.
This is not the first attempt to redevelop the Gleadells Wharf site; prior plans approved in 2006 for 43 flats were never realized. The current proposal aims to bring new life and housing to this underutilized river frontage.
