Apprentice Aid: Fuel Vouchers Ease Crisis
16 Apr
Summary
- Apprentices will receive three $100 fuel vouchers.
- Vouchers aim to ease financial strain during fuel crisis.
- Rising oil prices are attributed to Middle East conflict.

First and second-year apprentices in Australia will soon receive crucial financial assistance as trade unions implement a voucher program. Over the upcoming months, eligible apprentices will benefit from at least three $100 fuel vouchers, distributed every four weeks. This measure by the CFMEU addresses the severe cost-of-living pressures currently affecting young workers.
The fuel crisis, which began escalating around February 28, has seen crude oil prices more than double, from approximately US$65 to as high as US$120 a barrel. This dramatic price increase is largely due to the conflict in the Middle East and the subsequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil shipping lane.
