Freight Corridor Slashes Truck Delivery Times by 20 Hours

In a move to meet rising demand, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has requested the Railway Board to provide additional wagons for its truck-on-train (ToT) service. Launched in September 2023, the ToT service enables the transportation of trucks and milk tankers on specially designed wagons, significantly reducing transportation cost, time, traffic congestion, and air pollution.

Nearly a year after the service's debut, DFCCIL is pursuing the request for more wagons to capitalize on the growing business potential. Currently, the ToT service transports 30 trucks, including 25 milk tankers, daily from Palanpur in Gujarat to Rewari in Haryana, covering 630 kilometers in around 12 hours. This has slashed the travel time for milk tankers by 20 hours compared to the previous road-only journey.
