Mystery Fuel Chain Faces $4M Non-Payment Allegations
1 Sep
Summary
- Freedom Fuel Network sold gas significantly below market rates.
- A lawsuit alleges a fuel supplier was not paid $4 million.
- The company praised by Trump is now facing legal scrutiny.

Freedom Fuel Network, a chain primarily operating in the Philadelphia area, recently garnered significant public interest and presidential commendation for selling gasoline at approximately 50 cents a gallon less than the prevailing market rates. This pricing strategy became especially noteworthy given the concurrent rise in national gas prices.
Recently, a lawsuit has cast a shadow over Freedom Fuel's operations. Manfield Oil Company has filed a suit alleging that KRSM, the entity responsible for purchasing fuel for Freedom Fuel, failed to pay $4 million for gasoline deliveries made last month. The suit claims over 1.12 million gallons of gas were delivered to at least 10 Freedom Fuel stations.
KRSM's attorney disputes these claims, characterizing the situation as an accounting dispute over mispriced invoices. Despite the legal challenges and increased scrutiny, Freedom Fuel has continued to expand its network. Meanwhile, gas prices have remained elevated nationally and in Pennsylvania, with Freedom Fuel stations also seeing price increases.
Previously, the White House had stated that the Trump administration had no connection to Freedom Fuel, emphasizing it was a private entity receiving no government support or subsidies for its lower prices. The spokesperson indicated the company was simply reducing its profit margins to benefit consumers.
