18 Jul
Summary
- Over 288,000 Ford vehicles recalled due to roof rail covers.
- Detaching covers pose a road hazard, increasing crash risk.
- Dealerships will inspect and repair affected vehicles free.

Ford Motor Company is initiating a recall affecting over 288,000 vehicles. The concern centers on roof rail covers that may detach, potentially creating a road hazard and elevating the risk of a crash.
Owners might notice increased wind noise or visible gaps as indicators of a loosening roof rail cover. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has posted the recall notice, identified as recall number 26S54.
Ford is urging affected vehicle owners to bring their cars to a dealership. Technicians will conduct an inspection and perform necessary repairs to the roof rail covers at no cost to the owner. Initial notification letters were slated for distribution beginning August 24, with a subsequent mailing in September detailing the repair remedy.
