Ford Boosts Profit Forecast on SUV Strength
29 Jul
Summary
- Ford raised its full-year profit forecast significantly.
- Strong US SUV sales offset pickup production issues.
- Ford's net result improved to break even from a loss.

Ford recently announced a substantial increase in its full-year profit forecast, signaling strong financial performance. The automaker now anticipates adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) between $10 billion and $11 billion, a notable upward revision from its prior projection.
This positive outlook is largely attributed to the strong sales of Ford's sport utility vehicles (SUVs) in the United States, particularly higher-priced trims of models like the Bronco and Explorer. These sales have effectively compensated for challenges faced elsewhere.
The company experienced a 4% decrease in quarterly revenue compared to the previous year, totaling $50.2 billion. This decline was partly due to a fire at an aluminium supplier, which hampered the production of Ford's well-known F-Series pickup trucks. However, Ford's overall net result saw a significant improvement, moving from a $1.3 billion loss in the same quarter last year to breaking even.
Furthermore, losses within Ford's electric vehicle (EV) business have decreased as the company has adjusted its operations in that division. This multifaceted approach has allowed Ford to present a more optimistic financial future.
