- £42,000 investment aids youth employment and training.
- Program supports those not in education or employment.
A food trailer at Southampton's St Mary's Stadium is actively addressing youth unemployment by offering paid work and training opportunities. Stuffed Gourmet Trailers has secured a significant £42,000 investment from the Big Issue. This funding is specifically allocated to employ and train young individuals who are not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET).
The young people participating in this initiative are drawn from Saints Works, an employability program managed by the Saints Foundation, the charitable arm of the football club. This program targets 18 and 19-year-olds.
One beneficiary, 18-year-old Jack Trebilcock, explained his earlier departure from school due to personal circumstances. He found securing employment challenging without prior experience or qualifications. Working with Stuffed has been pivotal for his development.
Jack highlighted that the experience has been instrumental in developing personal skills and competencies that he would not have acquired had he remained outside the workforce. He expressed his satisfaction, stating he has not looked back since joining the program.
