Fidelity Breach: $2.5M Settlement Deadline Looms!

Fidelity customers have a limited window to claim a portion of a $2.5 million settlement stemming from a data security incident. The deadline to file a claim is July 27, as indicated on the settlement's official website.

The lawsuit alleged that a third party gained unauthorized access to Fidelity's network from August 17 to 19, 2024. A subsequent investigation suggested that personal information, which varied by individual, may have been compromised. This information could have included names, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and driver's license information. Fidelity has maintained that it committed no wrongdoing.

Eligibility for the settlement extends to individuals in the U.S. who were notified by Fidelity about the incident or whose account and routing numbers were exposed. Those with documented out-of-pocket losses directly resulting from the breach, between August 17, 2024, and July 27, 2026, could be eligible for up to $5,000. Customers without documented losses may still receive an estimated $100 payment, contingent on the total number of claims filed. Payments are anticipated in the months following the July 27 claim filing deadline.
