Customers impacted by the 2024 Fidelity Investments data breach are poised to receive compensation following a multi-million dollar class action settlement. Fidelity has agreed to resolve claims related to a cyberattack that occurred between August 17 and 19, 2024. This incident reportedly exposed sensitive financial data of around 77,000 individuals. Fidelity has not admitted wrongdoing but has agreed to the settlement terms. Eligible customers who received a notice about the breach may receive reimbursements for financial harm, capped at $5,000. This coverage extends to losses from fraud, identity theft, professional fees, and credit-related expenses, requiring documentation. A smaller cash payment of approximately $100 is also possible for claimants. California residents may receive an additional $50 Consumer Privacy Act payment. All eligible customers will benefit from two years of free identity theft protection and credit monitoring, including up to $1 million in fraud and identity theft insurance. The deadline to submit a claim is July 27, 2026.
