Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna has lauded Tesla's recent unveiling of its Roadster, which featured SpaceX-derived thrusters and aerial stunts. Vigna expressed admiration for the presentation, stating it showcases that innovation and daring are still possible within the mature automotive sector. He awarded Tesla's technological approach and presentation a perfect score.
Vigna made these remarks via videoconference from India, where Ferrari was hosting a client event. He highlighted the necessity of risk-taking in automotive development. Vigna pointed to Ferrari's own first fully electric vehicle, the Luce, which was developed in collaboration with Jony Ive's LoveFrom studio.
He explained that this external collaboration was vital for Ferrari's approach to the Luce, as working solely internally might not have yielded the same innovative solutions. Vigna believes that outside perspectives are essential for tackling complex questions and finding novel answers in product development.
