Shipping giant FedEx has placed a substantial order for 2,000 electric trucks from EV startup Harbinger, with the deal valued at $300 million. Harbinger, which is already in production, aims to complete all deliveries by the end of next year.
Founded in 2022 by industry veterans, Harbinger has focused on producing a single electric medium-duty commercial truck chassis. This streamlined approach has enabled the company to generate revenue early in its operations. FedEx had previously demonstrated its confidence in Harbinger by leading a $160 million Series C funding round for the startup late last year.
As of today, Harbinger has already delivered 53 electric trucks to FedEx, fulfilling a portion of a prior order. Beyond this significant order, Harbinger is diversifying its offerings. The company is venturing into hybrid emergency vehicles, has acquired an autonomous driving firm, and plans to sell its developed battery packs for energy storage. Defense applications are also being explored, amid reports that Harbinger may be considering an initial public offering.
