Family offices ramped up their direct investments in companies during April, showing a marked increase from the previous month. A total of 55 direct investments were recorded in April, up from 39 in March. This surge in activity indicates renewed confidence in the market.
The healthcare and life sciences sectors emerged as the most attractive, drawing nearly a third of all investments made by family offices. This highlights a strong trend towards innovation in medical technology and treatments.
Among those investing in these critical sectors was Laurene Powell Jobs' Emerson Collective. The firm participated in funding rounds for two promising startups: Ultralight, an AI platform for personalized healthcare, and Stipple Bio, a company developing targeted cancer therapies. Ultralight secured $9.3 million in seed funding, while Stipple Bio raised $100 million.
