International Graphite Ltd. has entered a joint venture with Alkeemia S.p.A. to establish a significant European graphite processing hub in Italy. The proposed operation at Porto Marghera, near Venice, will leverage Alkeemia's existing industrial infrastructure combined with International Graphite's processing expertise.
Under the agreement, Alkeemia will hold a 51% stake, while International Graphite will own 49%, with profits shared equally. This collaboration is set to produce approximately 10,500 tonnes of graphite products annually, with International Graphite contributing an estimated A$12 million for the initial phase.
The strategic location in Porto Marghera offers excellent access to port, rail, and road networks. This venture is poised to establish a new European critical minerals processing platform, reducing reliance on China and bolstering supply chains for crucial industries like energy storage and defense.
