AI Firms Propel Future of European IPOs
5 Aug
Summary
- Europe's IPO candidate pool has significantly decreased.
- AI companies now constitute one-third of potential listings.
- The UK leads Europe in AI IPO candidates.

The pool of European companies poised for initial public offerings (IPOs) has significantly diminished this year, even as favorable market conditions persisted. Despite low volatility and stable interest rates supporting listing volumes, the backlog of potential IPOs has nearly halved since the prior year. Many companies, particularly in the UK, biotech, and pharma sectors, have seen their chances of listing decrease.
Looking ahead, artificial intelligence firms are expected to revitalize Europe's IPO landscape. AI companies now constitute a third of all prospective IPO candidates, with 72 such firms identified. This surge in AI-driven opportunities suggests the future of European public markets will be increasingly dominated by technology-focused businesses.
Within the AI IPO candidates, the UK leads with 37.5% of the total, followed by France and Germany. As Europe's AI ecosystem matures, PitchBook anticipates this trend will continue, with AI listings likely to shape the next generation of public market entries.
