Construction on the Eden Project Morecambe is commencing this month, with the Bring Me Sunshine Garden scheduled for a public opening next spring. Following this, interior and experience design work will start in spring 2028, leading to the attraction's full debut in winter 2028. This ambitious project is being developed in collaboration with Lancaster City Council, Lancaster University, and Lancashire County Council.
The initiative has secured £50 million from the government, enabling it to progress into this crucial phase. The "Realm of the Moon" is envisioned as an immersive, dynamic space, inspired by Morecambe Bay's vast tidal range, featuring a hyper-real rockpool to showcase shifting natural cycles and storytelling.
Data indicates that several Morecambe neighborhoods are among the UK's most deprived, with a lower-than-average healthy life expectancy for men in the town center. The project aims to address these challenges by creating employment opportunities, with an expected 274 jobs locally and 1,083 additional roles in the wider region. It is also anticipated to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, significantly boosting the local economy.
