21 Jul
Summary
- EbixCash secured a perpetual Authorised Dealer Category-II licence.
- The licence allows handling trade and family remittances.
- It enables direct service to SMEs in international trade.

EbixCash World Money Ltd has achieved a significant milestone by securing a perpetual Authorised Dealer Category-II (AD-II) licence from the Reserve Bank of India. This marks the first time a non-bank entity in India has received such a licence with the authority to process trade and family maintenance remittances.
The newly granted licence empowers EbixCash to handle trade remittances up to ₹25 lakh per transaction, following amendments to the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) framework in May 2026. This expansion directly benefits micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) involved in import and export activities by offering them a direct channel for cross-border payments, reducing their reliance on traditional banking institutions.
With the RBI's approval to maintain Nostro accounts, EbixCash can now directly settle international transactions without involving correspondent banks. The company's Managing Director and CEO, TC Guruprasad, highlighted this licence as a testament to nearly three decades of regulatory compliance, positioning EbixCash to expand its services to exporters and importers through its extensive network. EbixCash already facilitates a substantial portion of India's inward remittances and significant outward remittances under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme.
