16 Aug
Summary
- Desert Water Agency increased bill assistance to $300.
- The credit aims to prevent shutoffs for low-income households.
- Palm Springs and Cathedral City customers are eligible for aid.

Desert Water Agency customers in Palm Springs and parts of Cathedral City are now eligible for increased bill assistance. The agency's Help2Others program now offers a one-time $300 credit, an increase from the previous $200 benefit, to qualifying low-income households. This financial aid is designed to prevent water shutoffs when bills become unaffordable.
The enhanced support, approved on June 16 and effective July 1, is particularly vital for desert communities where consistent water access is essential for safety and well-being. Agency officials estimate the $300 credit will cover about two months of a typical residential water bill, helping residents cope with rising costs and overall household inflation.
Desert Water Agency Board President Kristin Bloomer stated that the increase aims to ease the burden on customers facing financial hardships. The Help2Others program operates with community donations and other resources, partnering with Inland SoCal Way to direct aid effectively and minimize service interruptions.
