Summary

- A 3.14-km twin-tube tunnel will be the project's centerpiece.
- The project is estimated to cost Rs 6,969.67 crore.

A new Rs 6,970-crore road corridor is set to enhance connectivity between West Delhi and South Delhi. The National Highways Authority of India will construct the 8.1-km, six-lane, access-controlled link, with a significant 3.14-km twin-tube tunnel as its highlight. This tunnel will pass beneath Delhi's Southern Ridge, preserving the sensitive green area.
The corridor will connect the Shiv Murti Interchange on the Dwarka Expressway to Nelson Mandela Marg in Vasant Kunj. It is designed to offer a direct route, bypassing congested areas like Mahipalpur and Rangpuri. This is expected to greatly benefit daily commuters, airport passengers, and tourists by providing more predictable journey times.
While a construction start date and opening deadline are not yet announced, this long-term project promises a faster and more direct cross-city drive. Future connectivity to East Delhi and Noida could be possible through connections to other proposed corridors.
