The proposals are currently awaiting approval from the Delhi government.
Key locations identified for these facilities include the old slaughterhouse site on Idgah Road in the City-Sadar Paharganj zone, Rajendra Nagar, and Shastri Park. The proposed structures vary in design, incorporating features like basements and multiple floors to maximize capacity within limited urban footprints. An MCD official emphasized that while construction capacity exists, the scarcity of available land in strategic locations is the primary obstacle, impacting the feasibility of providing parking close to commercial hubs.
Beyond these three major projects, MCD is also advancing several other parking initiatives. Construction has been completed on automated parking facilities in Lajpat Nagar and Hauz Khas, with numerous other surface and multilevel parking lots already operational across the city. The success of these ventures hinges on careful site selection and government approval, paving the way for potential future parking developments in additional locations across Delhi.
