The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor (DDEC), a vital new expressway, officially commenced operations on April 14, 2026. This six-lane, 210 km access-controlled route represents a major advancement in transportation infrastructure.
Commuters can now travel between Delhi and Dehradun in a significantly reduced time of approximately 2.5 hours. The project, built at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore, is designed to also lower travel expenses for families and individuals journeying to the Himalayan foothills.
The DDEC incorporates a closed tolling system with five primary toll plazas. While specific toll collection has not yet begun, tentative rates for various vehicle categories have been indicated. For instance, light commercial vehicles are estimated to face a total charge of Rs 695 across two main phases of the corridor.
Heavy construction machinery and multi-axle vehicles could incur a total toll of Rs 2,280. Travelers are advised to consult official NHAI resources, such as the FASTag app or website, for the most accurate and up-to-date toll rate information before their journey.
