Delfin LNG Project Decision Nears After Pipeline Fix
26 Mar
Summary
- Final investment decision for Delfin LNG project expected soon.
- A pipeline explosion had previously delayed the project's approval.
- The pipeline has been repaired and awaits regulatory clearance.

The Delfin LNG project, located offshore Louisiana, is poised for a final investment decision within the next few weeks to months. This critical financial approval was delayed due to a February 3 pipeline explosion that disrupted gas flow to the proposed floating LNG plant. Fortunately, the pipeline has since been repaired and is currently awaiting regulatory clearance before operations can resume. Once these regulatory steps are completed, the final investment decision will be made, according to Eduard Ruijs, head of investment for Vitol, a significant investor in the project. The project aims for a capacity of 13.2 million metric tons per year.
