Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah anticipates a 20% income increase for dairy farmers nationwide within five years through the adoption of a circular economy model. This vision was articulated during the inauguration of Banas Dairy's bio-CNG and fertiliser plant in Gujarat. Shah lauded Banas Dairy for pioneering a model that generates supplementary income for farmers by transforming cattle dung into valuable biogas and bio-fertiliser.
The minister highlighted that a comprehensive plan for country-wide implementation will stem from a forthcoming meeting of Members of Parliament. He also revealed that key cooperative dairy leaders will visit Banas Dairy in January 2026 to study its initiatives. This dairy, Asia's largest with a ₹24,000 crore turnover, exemplifies how focusing on diverse global demands and sustainable practices like leather production can further enhance farmer earnings.
Shah affirmed the government's commitment to providing necessary finance and technology for this transition, emphasizing its role in achieving the 'White Revolution 2.0' goals. He particularly commended the significant contributions of women dairy farmers in Gujarat, acknowledging their instrumental role in strengthening the sector and ensuring direct financial benefits through their hard work.
