Daimler Truck Powers Polish Defense Assembly

Daimler Truck Defence has entered into a significant memorandum of understanding with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), a Polish defense conglomerate. This partnership aims to establish local assembly of Mercedes-Benz truck engines within Poland.

Daimler Truck Defence, in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz Powertrain, will supply engine components and crucial support to Polish firms undertaking the assembly. PGZ is responsible for setting up and managing the assembly facilities.

Production is scheduled to commence next year at a new line in Kalisz. Initially, this will involve assembling engines delivered in a largely pre-assembled state. The scope is expected to expand, eventually utilizing completely knocked down kits.

The engines produced are intended for defense vehicles manufactured by PGZ Group companies for the Polish Armed Forces. The collaboration also includes plans for servicing, maintenance, repair, and technical support, as well as establishing a competence center for engine overhauls.

This initiative represents a strategic step in strengthening partnerships between neighboring European nations and their respective industries. Daimler Truck will provide extensive technical consulting and training to ensure manufacturing and quality standards are met.
