The award-winning Swiss docuseries "Game Over - The Fall of Credit Suisse" now has international distribution, chronicling the dramatic 2023 collapse of the once-mighty bank and its takeover by UBS. The four-part series, written and directed by Simon Helbling, delves into the corporate culture of high risk and greed that permeated Credit Suisse, accepting huge losses as long as bonuses were paid.
Tracing this culture back to the 1970s, the documentary features interviews with key figures such as current UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti and former Credit Suisse CEO Josef Ackermann. The feature-length version was the most successful documentary in Swiss cinemas in 2025, and the series won best documentary at the Giessen International Series Festival.
"This high-stakes financial thriller... paints a gripping picture of one of the most spectacular financial scandals in recent history," stated Mirjam Strasser of Autentic. The production crew faced significant challenges over two years to secure candid accounts from decision-makers responsible for the bank's decline.
Notably, "Game Over - The Fall of Credit Suisse" is the first high-end docuseries in Switzerland to be financed predominantly by private investors, thanks to the Lex Netflix law enacted in 2024. This law mandates that streaming services and foreign TV channels invest in Swiss film production, making this project an exciting financial experiment.
