Coorg Village, adjacent to the popular Raja's Seat in Madikeri, is set to undergo a substantial upgrade aimed at boosting tourism. District Commissioner S.J. Somashekar reviewed the development plans, emphasizing the need to enhance the village as a prime tourist spot. The SP suggested relocating the ticket counter closer to Coorg Village to improve visitor flow.
The horticulture department noted that spaces are being rented to local businesses and interested parties due to a lack of initial participation in developing the village. A committee member suggested revitalizing Nehru Mantapa alongside Coorg Village to draw more tourists to the city.
The project director of Nirmiti Centre has been instructed to proceed with constructing a ticket counter, establishing an information centre, and setting up a food facility. Furthermore, the plans include installing CCTV surveillance, solar lights, arranging adequate parking, and introducing a miniature train for visitors.
