Columbus Airport Adds New Cell Phone Lot Near Terminal
16 Nov, 2025
Summary
- New cell phone lot closer to terminal at John Glenn Columbus Airport
- Lot allows drivers to wait for passengers without charge
- Part of $2 billion terminal construction project at the airport

As of November 16th, 2025, John Glenn Columbus International Airport has a new cell phone lot available for drivers picking up passengers. The new lot, positioned between the air traffic control tower and the terminal, is closer to the main building and provides an additional waiting option for travelers.
The Columbus Regional Airport Authority explains that the new cell phone lot is easy to access, with drivers able to follow road signs along International Gateway. Since there is no waiting permitted at the terminal itself, the designated cell phone lots allow drivers to wait for passengers free of charge near the airport.
This new cell phone lot addition comes amid a massive $2 billion construction project to build a brand-new terminal at John Glenn Columbus International. The existing 66-year-old terminal, with its three outdated and inefficient concourses, is being replaced with a modern facility featuring 36 gates - seven more than the current setup. The new terminal is expected to accommodate up to 13 million passengers annually, 20 years after its opening.
In the meantime, the airport's previous, larger cell phone lot has been closed due to the ongoing construction work. The current cell phone waiting lots by the John Glenn International sign and in the Green Lot remain available for use.
