21 Aug
Summary
- CEO steps down early before tenure ends.
- Stock is 51% below its record high.
- New CEO returns after experience elsewhere.

Colgate-Palmolive India's Managing Director and CEO, Narasimhan, will step down on September 27, a year before her contract concludes. She will transition to a new role as executive vice-president for marketing in the Asia Pacific region for the parent company.
Anandani is set to take over as the new MD & CEO for a five-year term starting September 28. This appointment marks a return for Anandani, who previously spent over a decade with Colgate-Palmolive in various roles before leaving in 2018.
He joins from Kenvue, where he was the managing director for India and South Asia. Sector analysts believe his experience in consumer businesses and his prior tenure at Colgate will facilitate a smooth transition.
The leadership change comes as Colgate-Palmolive India's stock has experienced a significant correction, now trading approximately 51% below its record high reached on October 3, 2024. The stock was trading around Rs 1,889 on the BSE on Friday afternoon.
During Narasimhan's tenure, which began on September 1, 2022, the company saw revenue grow 4.91% on a three-year CAGR, net profit grow 8.33%, and share price grow 5.87%. Her move to the Asia-Pacific role suggests the parent company plans to utilize her India market expertise more broadly.
For investors, the focus will be on the new leadership's ability to leverage Anandani's consumer-sector experience for improved execution in India. Key factors for stock recovery will include driving volume growth, defending market share, and navigating competition.
