CNG Prices Surge in Delhi-NCR

Beginning Saturday, August 29, 2026, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) consumers in the Delhi-NCR region will experience an increase in fuel expenses. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has raised the price of CNG by ₹3.89 per kilogram, with the new rates effective from 6 am on August 29, 2026.

This price adjustment means CNG in Delhi will now cost ₹86.98 per kg, up from ₹83.09 per kg. IGL stated that the escalating prices of internationally sourced liquefied natural gas (LNG) necessitated this change, leading to higher input gas costs for the company. The price hike is a calibrated measure to partially absorb these increased expenses.

Residents in Noida and Ghaziabad will now pay ₹95.59 per kg for CNG, while those in Gurugram will see the price at ₹92.01 per kg. IGL mentioned that despite significant increases in global gas benchmarks, retail CNG prices in Delhi have seen a moderate rise over recent months, increasing by approximately 7.8% before this latest revision.

The price increase will affect a broad spectrum of CNG users, including private car owners, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators, app-based cab drivers, commercial vehicle operators, and public transport vehicles running on CNG. For drivers, particularly auto and taxi operators who rely heavily on CNG, this could lead to higher running costs and potentially influence future fare revisions.
