Summary
- Central bank cuts key lending rate by 25 basis points.
- Interest subsidies offered on new home mortgages for first-time buyers.
- Expanded relending quotas support technology and small businesses.

To stimulate its economy, China announced significant policy adjustments on Tuesday. The People's Bank of China (PBOC) lowered the rate on its pledged supplementary lending (PSL) facility by 25 basis points, bringing the one-year rate to 1.5% from 1.75%.
Further economic support includes interest subsidies for eligible first-time homebuyers nationwide, effective October 1. This initiative offers an annual subsidy of 1 percentage point for up to five years on qualifying loans for homes up to 120 square metres and priced under 1.5 million yuan per household.
The central bank also broadened the PSL facility to support infrastructure investments and increased relending quotas. Quotas for sci-tech innovation, technological upgrading, farm and small businesses, and private enterprises saw substantial increases, collectively aiming to maintain ample liquidity and support the real economy.
