Chime Financial has reported a robust second quarter, marked by significant growth in active members, revenue, and transaction profits. The company's pivot towards profitability and artificial intelligence is drawing considerable attention from investors.
During the second quarter, Chime Financial saw its active members increase by 20% year-over-year, reaching 10.4 million by the end of June. This growth was complemented by a 27% rise in revenue compared to the previous year. The company also achieved a notable expansion in its adjusted EBITDA margin, which grew by 12 percentage points to 15%.
Furthermore, Chime Financial posted $102 million in adjusted EBITDA and $28 million in net income. This performance marks the second consecutive quarter of positive GAAP earnings per share for the company. Management highlighted that Chime continues to capture primary account share from traditional banks.
Key to this success is the early performance of Chime Prime, a membership tier launched in early April. Designed for members with qualifying monthly direct deposits of at least $3,000, it provides benefits like 5% cashback on selected categories, a 3.75% savings APY, and enhanced features such as Instant Loans and credit-building tools.
