3 Sep
Summary
- Company re-processed floor-collected noodles without proper heat treatment.
- Unlicensed manufacturing and predated packaging were discovered.
- FSSAI seized over 32,000 kg of suspect stock.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a directive to CG Foods India Pvt Ltd, ordering an immediate halt to the production of its veg bhujia namkeen products. This significant enforcement action was triggered by an inspection at the company's Ajmer facility, which uncovered numerous violations of food safety and licensing regulations.
During the inspection, FSSAI found that CG Foods India was re-processing floor-collected, broken noodles into bhujia without essential heat treatment. Furthermore, the company was identified as using predated packaging and engaged in unlicensed manufacturing of 'Wai-Wai MaMa' and 'Wai-Wai Mama Punte' variants. These practices directly contravene Section 31(1) of the FSS Act, 2006.
As a result of these findings, the food watchdog confiscated 32,107.2 kg of stock, including loose broken noodles. The inspection also highlighted deficiencies in hygiene, such as inadequate pest control records. FSSAI has seized expired finished goods and initiated strict legal proceedings, warning of further action based on laboratory analysis.
