Scotland Gets New £450M Center Parcs Resort

Center Parcs has officially secured planning permission to establish its seventh village in the UK and Ireland, located in the south of Scotland between Hawick and Selkirk. Construction is slated to begin in spring 2026, with an anticipated opening in summer 2029. This new venture, named Center Parcs Scottish Borders, represents a significant investment of approximately £450 million.

The expansive village will boast up to 700 lodges and apartments, the signature Subtropical Swimming Paradise, a central hub with shops and restaurants, and the tranquil Aqua Sana Forest Spa. Uniquely, Center Parcs will plant a dedicated forest on-site, selecting species to foster a thriving woodland, alongside two new lochs for water sports and a Nature and Heritage Centre.

This development is projected to create over 1,200 jobs, injecting an estimated £75 million annually into the Scottish Borders economy through tourism and other ventures. Center Parcs CEO Colin McKinlay highlighted the village's unique design and sustainability focus, aiming to be a nature-positive, low-impact destination that attracts families from Scotland and northern England.
