Caterham Councils Merge: A New Era for Surrey Community
15 Nov, 2025
Summary
- Second public consultation on merging Caterham councils
- Proposed new council to cover entire Caterham area
- First elections for new council scheduled for May 2026

Tandridge District Council has launched a second public consultation on plans to merge the Caterham on the Hill and Caterham Valley parish councils. The proposed changes would see the existing five wards and 15 members brought under a single new council covering the entire Caterham area.
The council states that the second consultation is necessary "to make sure local councils reflect the identity and needs of the community." If the merger goes ahead, the new council would be responsible for running events and services, including fun days, Christmas lights, and park activities.
