Car Insurance: No-Claim Bonus Reimagined
31 Aug
Summary
- Super NCB allows building up to 90% bonus.
- Claims reduce NCB by only one level, not zero.
- Flexi Repair lets policyholders bank minor damages.

Kiwi General Insurance launched in March 2026 with novel features aimed at improving motor insurance for policyholders. The Super NCB feature allows for the accumulation of a no-claim bonus (NCB) up to 90%, a significant increase from typical limits. Crucially, this feature ensures that making a claim only decreases the NCB by one level, rather than resetting it entirely.
This approach aims to alleviate customer hesitation in claiming for minor damages, a common issue where the cost of repair is offset by the fear of losing accumulated NCB. Kiwi's Super NCB also considers a policyholder's claims history and driving behavior when they switch insurers, rather than automatically reverting to a zero NCB.
Furthermore, Kiwi introduced Flexi Repair, a feature designed to address the economics of multiple small claims. Policyholders can now bank minor damages and combine them with a larger repair claim at a later date. This is intended to discourage customers from paying for minor repairs out-of-pocket or filing numerous individual claims, each potentially incurring deductibles and processing charges.
