California Families Receive $725 Monthly Boost Ahead of Thanksgiving

As of November 9th, 2025, California's Family First Economic Support Pilot Program is in full swing, offering a monthly income of $725 to 200 selected low-income families with young children. The initiative, launched in December 2024, aims to reduce poverty and enhance household stability in the state.

The program supports caregivers with children aged 0-5 living in Sacramento neighborhoods most affected by economic inequality. Eligible families must earn less than 200% of the federal poverty level and meet certain demographic criteria, with priority given to African American and Native American communities.

An independent evaluation is tracking the program's impact on factors like financial security, housing stability, and the number of child intervention cases. Early findings indicate that the monthly payments are helping reduce financial instability and promote family independence.
