BYD Denza Z9GT: Electric Speed Revolution
13 Mar
Summary
- BYD's new EV charges from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
- The Denza Z9GT boasts a range of up to 800 km on a single charge.
- BYD plans to install flash chargers across Europe starting this summer.

BYD is launching its premium Denza Z9GT electric vehicle in Europe next month, a move that highlights Chinese automakers' advanced EV technology. This new model features "flash charging" capabilities, allowing it to charge from 10% to 70% in a mere five minutes, a stark contrast to the 45 minutes typically required for current fast-charging EVs.
The Denza Z9GT also offers an impressive range of up to 800 km, exceeding most existing electric vehicle models. The vehicle utilizes the latest battery technology, capable of charging even in extremely cold temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius.
To support this rapid charging technology, BYD announced plans to install its own flash chargers across Europe, beginning this summer. This initiative is necessary as current chargers cannot handle the 1,500kW required for the Denza Z9GT's quick charging.
This European expansion comes as BYD experiences flagging sales in its domestic market of China, where it was recently overtaken by local rival Geely. The end of China's EV purchase tax exemption has also benefited legacy carmakers in that market.
