The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has concluded its most prosperous financial year, marking a historic achievement by surpassing ₹5,000 crore in revenue for the first time in its 150-year existence. This period saw the exchange significantly expand its trading volumes, with options premium ADTV doubling and Foreign Portfolio Investor (FPI) participation growing from approximately 100 to 520 active entities.
The BSE is actively broadening its derivative offerings beyond existing indices. A new Focused IT Index derivative is scheduled for launch on May 11, 2026, responding to market demand for sector-specific exposure. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to introduce multiple new products in the fiscal year 2027.
Furthermore, the exchange is setting ambitious goals for its BSE Star MF platform, aiming to become the primary entry point for a new generation of Indian retail investors. With India's growing investment capacity, the BSE envisions scaling its mutual fund portfolio from the current six crore to potentially ten times that number, positioning Star MF as a crucial facilitator for this growth.
