Brazil is dispatching two key officials, Luis Rua and Carlos Goulart, to China for urgent negotiations regarding soybean inspection and safety requirements. The mission, scheduled for next week, aims to address recent trade disruptions caused by new inspection measures implemented by Beijing.
These trade challenges arose after Brazil's Agriculture Ministry intensified inspections on soybean shipments to China. This action followed repeated findings by Chinese authorities of pesticide and fungicide contamination on the exported beans. Brazil acknowledges increasing its inspection scrutiny in line with China's requests.
Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro stated that no sanitary protocol was established when the Brazilian soybean market initially opened to China. He expressed Brazil's intention to collaborate with Beijing to forge a satisfactory agreement that ensures smooth trade relations for the crucial agricultural commodity.
